In Scotland, married couple Eric and Beth Alex Norton and Arabella Weir live next door to their son Ian Jamie Quinn and his boyfriend Jaz Harki Bhambra. Along with the street's other residents, Cathy and Colin Doon Mackichan and Jonathan Watson and Christine Elaine C. Smith, the tight-knit households try to support each other through the highs and lows of life. But calamity is often not far away for the residents, including when they get together for a Burns supper and a birthday pub visit, and a new couple joins them on the street.
